baby boot camp
As a new mom, do you struggle with feeling overwhelmed? Feeding, changing, and getting to know your new bundle of joy coupled with the never-ending grind of housework can weigh you down. Add to that sleep deprivation and the recovery process following childbirth, and it’s enough to drive anyone crazy. Many new moms struggle to exercise and eat right.
For many of us, too, losing the baby weight can be difficult. Lots of new moms choose to nurse their babies, and, even with the extra calorie burn (estimated 300-500 calories per day), still struggle to fit into their pre-baby clothing. What’s a mom to do?
Fortunately, there are group workout classes in Naples focused on helping new moms regain their strength and confidence – not to mention their pre-baby bodies. Here is what I discovered when I tried both workouts.
Pure Barre Naples
Pure Barre – located on the corner of Goodlette-Frank Road and Pine Ridge Road – is a small workout studio that offers group classes seven days per week. These classes combine a barre/ballet style workout with core-focused Pilates strength training. Each workout class provides a similar format, though the exercises change with each class.
Pure Barre co-owner Olga Zelaya stresses the studio’s focus on helping new moms regain strength following child birth. “Bouncing back after having a baby can be more difficult than many new moms expect. Pure Barre is an effective way to lose weight and regain that core muscle tone that was stretched to the limit during pregnancy. Its low impact format makes it safe to attend class every day.”
Strong and confident
During her pregnancy with twins, Kate Anderson of Naples had to take a break from working out. When her twin boys were two months old, she returned to Pure Barre. “I was a nervous wreck with my post-baby body,” Kate says. “I walked into my first class and was welcomed with such encouragement and positivity. I walked out feeling like I had conquered the world! Ten months later, I am back to feeling strong, confident, full of energy and happy! It’s the one part of my day that is just for me, and I cherish it.”

Baby Boot Camp
Baby Boot Camp is a unique circuit training style stroller fitness class where moms workout with their babies in tow. Classes are offered throughout the week outdoors at the Mercato in Naples.
Baby Boot Camp’s trainers are nationally certified fitness instructors with pre-/post-natal certifications. The program incorporates a full body workout with cardio drills, strength training exercises, core work, stretching, and functional movements.
Naples and Estero franchise owner Courtney Williams was the class instructor the day I attended. She loves helping new moms develop increased fitness levels and regain their strength, while fostering community amongst moms. “Our program is not only a fitness program but also a moms’ group, where moms build lasting friendships.” Williams says. “We have coffee dates, play dates, book clubs, and moms’ nights out. Moms love having the opportunity to get together regularly and be with other like-minded women, who feel health and fitness are a part of their lives along with raising their children in this atmosphere.”
