Here's What's So Cool About our New Calendar of Events

Neapolitan Family has transitioned to a new calendar server called CitySpark. All previously entered events for the entire month of September have been exported as of August 16. If you have entered events occuring after September 30, you may need to enter them again.

Here is why readers are going to love it:

• There is a calendar graphic on most pages with today's events and links to main calendar.

• You can increase your search distance or change your city altogether, and find events all over the United States.

• You can alter your viewing preferences based on time, category or popularity.

Here is why event hosts are going to love it and how to use it:

  • You can enter and edit your own events, which couldn't be done before. You will have your own log in.  You can cancel events, change the times, or any related information whenever you need to. 
  • The CitySpark server scans all of the area event calendars and websites and enters events automatically. If your event has already been picked up by the software, you will see that right away when you start to enter it. Your event will be live, if approved, within 4 hours of entering.
  • Make your listing a featured listing (choose 1 day or many days) and pay for that enhanced listing right on the website. Then your event will be highlighted, on the top menu bar, and on all of our calendar widgets throughout the site. There are also side bar ads and sponsorships available. (event listings are always free!)
  • You can upload a photo or logo for the thumbnail and listing for no charge!

This is going to mean less work for everyone, and more options to post your events! 

If you want your event to be considered for print in Neapolitan Family, please copy or edit your description into the print box by the 15th day of the month prior to the event.I recommend using fewer tags, in case you choose one that we have blocked (Gambling, Gaming, Food & Drink, Real Estate, Bars, etc) and stick to the Family tag and one or two other tags.You are welcome to send press releases for events, but we can not guarantee entry of events contained in the press release.

This is our home page. The red arrows point to our calendar widget, which gives a snapshot of events, plus our calendar sponsor. Click anywhere on the widget or Calendar on the menu bar to go to the new calendar. There will be calendar widgets on several landing pages.

This is a typical page in our new calendar, and it is already populating with area events. You can upload your photo or logo to the listing for no charge. Featured listings rotate on the bar; our sponsor ad is the top of the right side, and you can place the larger side rail ads as well. Ads follow as pages are scrolled. There also is a menu bar under the featured listing so you can change your  view, you location (anywhere in U.S.!) and your search area. Ads will always follow.

When you click on Add Event, You can begin to create your event once you have a log in. If your event has already been entered by our server, it will show up. You can either choose to edit that event, or add a new event.

Organizations and venues will have opportunities to click on advertising options. Examples will be provided by the server, and you can pay the server directly, or order this feature as part of your contract.  You can make your listing a featured listing for just the day of the event, or several days leading up to the event.
