Are you starting to think about getting more organized during the new year? Staying on top of things can be difficult when you have children adding their toys and belongings to the clutter. Here are some of our favorite organizing tips for your family!
1. USE CABINET DOORS.
Measuring Cup Storage. Even the smallest space has cabinets. And, those cabinets have doors. Use that space for hanging small items like measuring cups and you'll be able to empty a drawer for something else.

Spice Storage. In this photo, mop and broom hangers are fastened inside a cupboard door to hold spices. Genius!

Message Area. Paint the inside of a bathroom cabinet is painted with chalkboard paint. You can do this with with any cabinet door and you have an instant organizational tool. In the bathroom, use it to remind yourself to take your medicine or keep track of prescriptions.
In the kitchen, it would be a great place for your grocery list or schedule reminders.

2. REPURPOSE. Look at everything with a fresh eye. Even the most humble of household items can be used for something much more grand.
Ice Cube Tray Jewelry Storage. Plastic ice cube trays are cheap and offer individual storage compartments perfect for earrings and small pieces of jewelry. Slide several into a drawer and it's not only easy to put away your jewelry but you can see everything at a glance.

Cutlery Trays for Jewelry Storage. Pick up one or two of these wood cutlery trays at Bed, Bath & Beyond and install vertically on a closet wall or other out of the way spot. Screw some cup hooks into each section and you have a great spot for hanging necklaces without tangling.

Tool Bucket Art Storage. These huge tool buckets cost about $5 at Home Depot. You can use this tutorial to make a fabric insert to store supplies or pick up one made for tools at Home Depot. Slide your children's art supplies into the slots with the bigger items like paper pads inside the bucket and you have instant arts & crafts organization. Plus, it's easy to put away and store.

Baby Wipe Crayon Storage. Here's an easy one to keep you organized on the go! Baby wipe containers are the perfect size for crayons–just pop the crayons inside and toss into your bag or car. This is such a good idea that I'd buy a new giant pack of crayons and fill several diaper wipe containers at once and then stow several of the containers everywhere they might be needed.
Plastic Shelving. Repurpose an inexpensive plastic shelf to organize your wrapping paper. Just install it sideways along the end of a closet and slip the rolls of paper behind. How easy is that?
USE OFFICE SUPPLIES.
Clipboard Organizing. Pick up several chipboard clipboards at Staples and label. Then hang up the clipboards above your desk or counter. All you need to do to stay organized is slide the paper under the clip. This works great for papers that won't be hanging around for long–school papers that need to be signed or mail that will be taken to the post office.

File Folders for Your Child's Keepsakes. Pick up a new filing box (or repurpose an old one) and outfit it with hanging folders. Depending on how much you plan on keeping, one folder for each year should work. Now all you have to do is drop the special papers and artwork into the correct year. Be sure you add a copy of their yearly school photo. After 12 years, you'll have an awesome keepsake of your child's entire school career.
