It’s an endeavor three years in the making. Collier County Public Schools (CCPS) is officially debuting a new look, complete with a new logo, brand, website, and an app. The process all started with a simple goal: to better showcase CCPS as a leader in education. As Superintendent Dr. Kamela Patton has said, she wants CCPS to be known as an incubator for future leaders and a frontrunner in technology. The new brand aims to do just that.
The first thing you will notice about the new logo is the name change. The previous logo listed the name as “The District School Board of Collier County.” However, that is not how people refer to us. Through our strategic planning process, we learned that the district is commonly referred to as Collier County Public Schools or CCPS. Based on that, local marketing experts and professors donated their time to work with us to start the branding process. CCPS staff then created three new logo options as well as three options for an updated tag line. We put those options to the test back in the fall through a survey distributed across Collier County. With more than 4,000 responses, the new logo and tag line “Today’s Learners. Tomorrow’s Leaders.” each won the vote with 44 percent. Those who picked the new logo felt it did the best job visually capturing the feel of our school district. Those who voted for the new tag line agreed that it embraced the incredible teaching and learning happening in our classrooms each day.
You will also notice a fresh new look the next time you visit the homepage of our website: www.collierschools.com. Since our website consists of hundreds of pages, CCPS staff will continue to work on shifting the rest of the website to the new look in the coming months. For this facelift, we once again surveyed the community, mostly parents, to see what upgrades you would like to see. Around 44 percent of respondents told us you use our website daily, while about 38 percent use it weekly. The biggest complaint we heard about the old website was that it was difficult to navigate. Well, we have cut the clutter and designed a cleaner look. The website is also responsive, meaning it will be easy to navigate no matter where you are viewing it – computer, tablet, or mobile device.
New Mobile App Unveiled:
A survey done by CCPS found that 97 percent of the respondents use mobile applications. To meet that need, there’s now a CCPS app. You will be able to access everything from calendars and lunch menus to the latest district news with ease. The app allows you to easily toggle between information for the entire district and the individual schools you select. You can even sign up for notifications to make sure you do not miss out on the latest alerts from your child’s school. The app will also allow you to connect with us on social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter. The new CCPS app is now available for download in both the Apple App and Google Play stores.
