There is an old saying that horseback riding is the art of keeping a horse between a rider and the ground. Seems quite simple? It can be when the proper tools, skills, and emotions are applied to this unique sport. But what skills are actually needed and what tools does a rider possess?
Very often new students come to our farm because they love horses – but they soon learn that it involves hard work. Cleaning equipment, grooming the horse, learning to follow instructions, as well as communicating with a horse that is more powerful – many life lessons are learned at the farm. Parents often see new riders developing a deeper sense of self esteem, responsibility, and problem solving skills and are encouraged to see their child grow in confidence as they move from a beginner to more advanced levels of riding.
At Cornerstone Farm we offer over 28 years of experience in assisting riders. The goal is to develop all the skills necessary to be an accomplished equestrian at any level—skills that will last—and often build strength in other areas of life—hard work, perseverance, patience, and responsibility.
