The goal of the Seacrest Performing Arts Academy is to serve middle and high school students who have demonstrated artistic abilities and a commitment to developing themselves as performing artists. The Academy is open to all middle & high school students in the greater Naples community. The after-school program is comprised of small groups and ensembles which rehearse twice a week and perform in the Naples community 3-4 times a month. The program is directed by Jodie DeSalvo, concert pianist and Director of the Performing Arts at Seacrest Country Day School. Highlights from the Seacrest Choral Program include Spring 2012 Choral tour of Rome and Southern Italy, Spring 2011 Choral performances in New York City.
The Academy provides both the academic training necessary for professional musicianship and also the experiential opportunities to further develop performance- quality artists. In small groups, such as a Capella singers and jazz ensembles, students will rehearse for performances scheduled in the greater Naples community. Students work closely with professional musicians, gaining an intimate knowledge of both the challenges and joys of being a performing artist. Encouragement and counseling are offered to those who wish to pursue their passion at the collegiate level.
